This page explains the information shown in the Educator Licensing Lookup Tool. Use it to understand an educator's license type, status, and assignment history.


Educator Discipline Section

This section appears only if the educator has had discipline from the Utah State Board of Education within the past 10 years. Revoked and surrendered licenses are always shown, regardless of age.

To request more information, submit an open records request.


Licensure Information Section

This section displays the educator's license information, including the type of license held, current status, and important dates.

License

This field shows the educator's current or most recent license type.

Licensing Levels: To help other licensing agencies, each definition below identifies the "Stage of Teacher Licensure" met by that specific license. These levels are based on the NASDTEC Interstate Agreement for Educator Licensure.

Current Active License Types
Former License Types (No Longer Issued)

These licenses are expired and no longer valid in Utah. They are equivalent to a Professional license and may be renewed.

These licenses were temporary or restricted licenses, no longer valid, and are not renewable.

License or Discipline Status

This shows the status of the educator's license.

License Dates

Credentials Section

Lists all endorsements and license areas showing subjects and specialties.

Recommending Institution

Shows the program or institution of higher education that recommended the educator.

Certificate Type

Indicates the type of license.

Certificate Status

Same as License Status (see above section).


Assignment Section

Shows the educator's current employment assignment.

District/Charter
State Qualified

Shows whether the educator was properly licensed for the assignment and is qualified for state funding.
